The proprietor of this vineyard is Henri de Rothschild. The vineyard of Mouton-Rothschild adjoins the Chateau Lafite, and is situated upon a gentle undulating surface where the soil is well suited to the best cultivation of the vine. This vineyard is a model in its culture and all its appointments. It produces annually about 150 tuns of wine of the second class. The wines of this vineyard have an exquisite bouquet and a most agreeable taste, and their fame has already augmented to a considerable degree their price, and they are regarded by experts as almost, if not quite, equal to the grand wines of the first class.
