Sardinia and Sicily have about the same area and are both well suited to viticulture. The wines like those of Sicily have generally a high alcoholic content indicating a percentage of about 30 of sugar in the grape. The manufacture of brandy is also carried on to a considerable extent in Sardinia. The special wines of the Island are not well known in foreign countries. The most important of the special wines are: Vernaccia, Muscat, Mal-voisie, Nasco, Canonao, Monica and Giro.
