To the east of Liguria and south of Lombardy lies Emillia one of the largest in extent of the divisions of Italy. In it is found the valley of the Po and it extends eastward to Bologna. The wines have a low alcoholic content, medium acidity and are both red and white. The principal wine markets are found at Bologna. It is among the largest producing provinces of the country.
