The vineyard of Gruaud-Larose has had a very checkered history, and the old vineyard was divided at the time of the French Revolution into certain parts which now maintain separate names. One of these parts of the old vineyard is the property of an association called the Civil Society of Gruaud-Larose-Faure-Bethmann. The wines of the vineyard are extremely fine, very elegant, and have a particular bouquet and exquisite perfume which distinguish them from the other growths of the M6doc. It also enjoys a great reputation in France and abroad. The situation of the vineyard is admirable in its exposure to the sun and the character and surface of the soil. Its annual product is about 100 tuns.
