Found in rich soil. Common west as far as Texas, Arkansas and Minnesota. Somewhat rare in Eastern States, New York to New Jersey.

Flowers

Pinkish-white, yellow at the center, purplish-tinged outside, 6 strongly recurved divisions, terminating stalks 5 - 8 inches high.

Leaves

2, from the base, smooth, more or less mottled, from solid bulb.
