Found in rich woods. Nova Scotia, Maine to Minnesota, south to the Carolinas, west to the Mississippi.

White, 4 divisions, borne in a loose cluster terminating a stalk 8 - 13 inches high.

Leaves

2 opposite, compound leaves borne on flower stalk, leaves at base larger. Rootstalk long, crinkled, possessing pungent flavor.
