Wild Lemon. Podophyllum peltatum.

Barberry Family. Apr. - May.

A plant 12 - 18 inches high. Found in rich, moist woods. Western Quebec and western New England to Minnesota and southward.

Flowers

White, 6 - 9 divisions, solitary, unpleasantly scented. Fruit, large, edible berry.

Leaves

Those of the flowerless stems terminated by a large, rounded, 7 - 9-lobed leaf supported by a stem in the middle; those of the flowering stem 2, much lobed, with the nodding flower in the fork.
