Sparganium americanum. Bur-reed Family. June - Aug.
Plant 1 - 2 feet high, stem having 1 - 2 branches, found on borders of ponds and streams. Newfoundland to Minnesota, southward to Missouri and Florida.
Of 2 kinds, the upper ones in downy-heads, lower ones round, bur-like, borne on stalks from the leaf angles.
Long, narrow.
