Xt. europseus: shrub; branches erect, the numerous short branchlets all ending in a thorn, the leaves generally reduced to thorns; flowers large, yellow, in showy racemes, intermixed with thorns, the calyx very hairy. - Whin or Gorse. - Sandy heaths and commons. Fl. March to July.
