Ce. biennis: biennial; stems almost simple, 2-3 feet high, hairy; leaves ovate-lanceolate or lanceolate, slightly toothed, hoary or downy; flowers yellow, large, fragrant, opening in the evening, forming long terminal spikes often leafy at the base, the petals broad, spreading. - Naturalized on sandy-wastes in Lancashire. Fl. July to September.
