Nickel may be removed from cycle parts by steeping them for a short time in commercial sulphuric acid, to which is added, from time to time, a small quantity of nitric acid. However, owing to the corrosive nature and fumes of the acid, the nickel is generally removed with emery bobs, the work being polished ready for plating at the same time.
