This guide to handcrafts for homebound handicapped children between the ages of six and twenty-one was prompted, primarily, by a basic interest in developing one which would be helpful to teachers, parents, and others who deal with these children. The material presented here is designed to meet the needs that these children have for creative expression, and to complement their interests with things to do that are varied enough to please all ages and both sexes.

Thirty illustrated craft projects complete with simple instructions are included. They were selected by a group of experienced handcraft teachers in the city of New York who indicated their judgment concerning the planned crafts. These were familiar to them through usage with physically handicapped homebound students. The instructions were given to handicapped pupils, parents, and teachers to insure "operational validity."

The special contribution of this book lies in the arrangement and grouping of projects suitable for types of physical handicaps or involvements, with techniques within the range of pupils' abilities. Thus it provides an easy method of selection which has been found to be effective with a child having a specific type of disability.
