You can make some highly interesting items from book jackets, greeting cards, match covers-to mention only a few. Instead of discarding them, try accumulating a supply of them and putting them to good use.

With flattened match covers, for instance, you can cover the top of a card table by pasting them to the table and then smoothing the surface by applying coats of clear lacquer or shellac. You can do the same with the decorative part of greeting cards -or even postcards or book jackets.

Folding screens can be decorated in the same way, and you'll be surprised at the pleasing results.

Paper Parts Are Used For Ship Models

Very small ship model fittings, such as boom and gaff jaws, and other tiny craft-work parts usually made of wood, can be cut from six or seven layers of bond paper glued together with cellulose cement.

Cutter Fits On Paper-Tape Roll

Cut from a tin can, this simple device will keep a roll of adhesive paper tape from unrolling and also serve as a cutter. It is held in place with a rubber band and two short pieces of match sticks. Be sure to press the burr or jagged edges of the two holes in the tin with a pair of pliers so the edges will not cut through the rubber band.
